„The album Orange Sky is a suite whose pieces are closely interrelated. The dynamics and atmosphere of the different songs are attuned to each other, creating a balanced whole from the first to the last note. A unifying component that runs through all the pieces is the sound. This is remarkable because drummers are usually responsible for the timing and not the timbre.
Johannes Metzger is a fine observer who knows how to translate the supposedly casual into musical stringency. Some of it sounds almost like a musical travel guide through Berlin’s back streets. „These observations tend to play a subordinate role in composing,“ Metzger admits, „but of course it’s precisely these moods that carry me into the music when I’m writing.
Orange Sky is an album that is as thoughtful as it is lasting, made up of many aspects of personal and collective perception of the world as well as situational and global life experience. A universally applicable work that is just as suitable as a light-hearted daily companion as it is as a gateway to listening deeply into oneself and encountering the fundamental questions of existence. Last but not least, it lives from the visionary spirit of a self-confessed sound fanatic who enjoys the playful moment like breathing air, but for whom music always goes far beyond the concrete moment experienced in sound.“
